Viva Las Vegas!

I attended my first Physical Therapy combined sections conference in Las Vegas earlier this week. I can't tell you how great it is to be part of something as awesome as Physical Therapy. I bet you also didn't know that physical therapy now deals with women's pelvic health issues...I got really interested in the topic when we had a guest speaker come to our class and tell us all about it, interesting stuff! Now, I never saw myself as someone who would ever do a pelvic exam which includes internal palpation, but the thought of helping women with their pelvic issues is awesome! So while in Las Vegas I attended the following courses on the topic: Increasing Orgasm potential and a lecture on Constipation Dysfunction. Did you know that 24-57% of women have an orgasm dysfunction?!Wow! And millions suffer from constipation. I am hoping to be able to do my orthopedic internship at a clinic that offers women's health and manual therapy, best of both worlds! I am so undecided about which area of PT I want to go into when I am done with school...I love the spine, women's health is very interesting and I like pediatrics too! Agh, too many choices!
We also had a little free time to go out and have fun...so we went out to Club Prive at Plant Hollywood which was a lot of fun! I go to school with a great group of girls that have become great friends!
Part of my class with the founder of our school Dr. Paris...he is such a brillant man who has made so many advances in field of Physcial Therapy and I am so happy that I am going to the University of St Augustine!

Whatever happened to that Half Marathon??

Well you see what happen was.....
The nifty running log and new shoes only motivated me for 1.5 weeks....and not to make excuses BUT then finals hit and I started my 7 week long internship that was nearly the death of me...so needless to say the Half Marathon training was thrown to the bottom of my priority list. LUCKILY I was not alone in this failed attempt, Kellie also did not train (Im sure Kel has her own excuse as well) and so therefore we decided to drop down to the 5K race instead.

SO the race reinforced the fact that I am horribly out of shape and need to get my butt in gear before it becomes harder and harder....I was however able to run most of the race (Kel smoked me) and these were my dreadful results:

  • Overall: 1140 out of 2508
    Women: 591 out of 1621
    F 25-29: 121 out of 276
    Age/Grade: 44.83% Place: 1159
    Finish: 33:02 Pace: 10:38
    Tag Time:33:02
Gun Time:35:18We did finish and got these really cute little metals that will be treasured forever! Haha JK! Kellie was already looking for a trash can to toss it in, this picture was only because she is a trooper when it comes to my picture taking. I do want to one day complete a half marathon and even possibly a marathon. I wish I would have trained like I had planned, oh well maybe next year!
